Pharmakeia φαρμακεια Greek word for Pharmacy - "Witchcraft" or "Sorcery"

Pharmakeia φαρμακεια Greek word for Pharmacy - "Witchcraft" or "Sorcery"

Pharmakeia φαρμακεια is the Greek word for pharmacy, which is the practice and making of medication and vitamins.  It also refers to the making of spell-giving potions, or alchemical potions (or elixirs) believed to have transforming powers, such as the power to extend life, boost energy, or enhance the mind. It also refers to any substance used to poison someone, to prevent or treat disease (or, for that matter, to cause it), or to gain control of someone's behavior.
Pharmakeia and its related word forms pharmakeus, pharmakon, pharmakos and pharmakoi are the words from which we get the modern English words pharmacy, pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical, pharmacist, pharmacopia, pharmacology, pharmaceuticalist and pharmaceuticalism.

The modern transliteration of pharmakeia is pharmacia. Pharmakeia and its related forms appear several times in the New Testament, including the Epistle to the Galatians and the Book of Revelation. It is frequently translated as "witchcraft" or "sorcery".

Magical pharmacia substances or potions often bind someone under a spell by evocation with and without uttered word formulas. Cosmetics, lotions and perfumes were also made by practitioners of pharmaceuticalism and by extension any lab made substance or chemical falls in the realm of pharmakeia or pharmacia.  In modern times petrochemicals are used to create chemical reactions with plants to create pharmaceutical substances.
One well known example is the street drug cocaine, where coca leaves are soaked in gasoline and sulfuric acid to produce the substance cocaine. Other pharmaceuticals are made solely from petrochemicals.  Today people who practice organic farming and gardening are those who reject the form of pharmakeia using chemicals which is turning to witchcraft for the success of their crops.

On The Greek word “pharmakia”

The Greek word “pharmakia” literally means “drugs”, and appears five times in the New Testament: in Gal 5:20, Rev 9:21, 18:23, 21:8, and 22:15.

“Pharmakia” is translated into our English Bible as either “witchcraft” or “sorceries”. We also get our English word “pharmacy” from the Greek word “pharmakia”.

In each of the above five passages, “pharmakia”, or “drugs” is listed as a work of the flesh of man as opposed to the Spirit of God working in us.

Gal 5:16-23 in the KJV:

16 “[This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft (“pharmakia” or drug use), hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance (self control) : against such there is no law.”

The King James Bible translators translated “pharmakia” as “witchcraft”, because almost no one but witches and sorcerers used drugs 400 years ago. Drugs were most commonly used in pagan worship to hallucinate and to try to get in touch with evil spirits.

This can be serious stuff! In Rev. 21:8, God says that people who are continually characterized by drug use will have no part in the Kingdom of God.

Now many people think that when the New Testament speaks of drug use that it is only talking about Illegal drug use, but I believe it is also speaking of those people who call themselves Christians but are relying on Legal Prescription drugs. Now I am not saying that everyone who has to take prescription drugs are part of the people that the New Testament is talking about here, but I have noticed the prevalent and growing disturbing trend within the church of “Christians using on a regular and continuing basis: mind altering prescription pain killers, anti-depressants, nerve pills , and also other strong prescription drugs that if the taker wanted to could reduce or eliminate the use of via their own self control or a life style change.

"I have even seen a person who was supposed to be heading up an addictive habit deliverance ministry who had diabetes but refused to alter their eating habits but instead chose to rely on an insulin pump to control their sugar levels so the person could eat what they wanted and admittedly said so! " Yes there are people who have diabetes and it wouldn’t matter if they altered their eating habits, they would still need to take insulin. But if you can control your eating habits but refuse to and have to rely on a drug becauseof your refusal then that is a sin. Not to mention the damage that too much unneccessary insulin dependence can do to your body over a long period of time. How can you teach others how to be delivered of sinful addictive habits if you refuse to give up one yourself? Many people have the mistaken idea today that they need not bring their flesh under control where they are able to.

But the Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 9:27:

But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

The Church in America is increasingly populated by people who remain dependent and bound to the addictions of their flesh, and these are not new Christians but Christains who are leaders of others. When you leaders who are still bound to fleshly addictions how can they be a qualified vessel that the Holy Spirit can work through? What we are incresingly seeing is bound up false Christians who think the Holy Spirit is about dancing around the floor and getting a fuzzy feeling inside. They then pass this misconception on to others whom they lead, is it any wonder that there is a lack of the transforming power of the Holy Spirit in Churches today?

As it says in James 5:13-15:

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.

Again many people misunderstand what Elder means in this passage. They think well because someone has the official title of Elder or leader in a Church then that person’s prayers will be more effective. But the emphasis here is not on the official postion of Elder or Leader, it is the spiritual condition that the Elder was in that determined the effectiveness of their prayer. As in James day to be an Elder meant you were a mature Christian who exhibited the power of the Holy Spirit in your life which meant you were not bound to fleshly addictions.

The sad spiritual condtiion of the church today is a direct result of the sad spiritual condition of its elders and leaders. And as their spiritual condition worsens so does the Churches.

When you mix, prescription drugs, a heavy emphasis on revelation and experiential and emotion driven religion over Biblical Doctrine and obedience to the word then you wind up with a church ripe for deception and lying spirits. The gateways to satanic influences have been thrown wide open. And that is what we are seeing in churches today.

This article is very disturbing, this type of behavior is coming into the Church, and is why People must test everything via God’s Word and if it does not line up with the WORD: Reject It!

The shocking link between psychiatric drugs,
suicide, violence and mass murder

From Columbine to Virginia Tech, every time another headline-making mass murderer is discovered to have taken antidepressants or other psychiatric drugs, rumors and speculation abound regarding the possible connection between the medications and the violence.

July 2007 edition of Whistleblower magazine, the time for speculation and guessing is over. The evidence is overwhelming and irrefutable, says Whistleblower’s groundbreaking investigative report: Mood-altering psychiatric drugs – taken every day by tens of millions of Americans, including millions of children – actually can push some users over the edge into mania, suicide and horrific violence.

To begin with, many of the most notorious mass killers in recent memory have been on, or just coming off, prescription mood-altering drugs. Remember these headline names?

  • Andrea Yates, in one of the most heartbreaking crimes in modern history, drowned all five of her children – aged 7 years down to 6 months – in a bathtub. Insisting inner voices commanded her to kill her kids, she had become increasingly psychotic over the course of several years.

  • Yates had been taking the antidepressant Effexor. In November 2005, more than four years after Yates drowned her children, Effexor manufacturer Wyeth Pharmaceuticals quietly added “homicidal ideation” to the drug’s list of “rare adverse events.” But “rare” is defined by the FDA as occurring in less than one in 1,000 people. And since, according to an Associated Press report, about 19.2 million prescriptions for Effexor were filled in the U.S. alone in 2005, that means statistically almost 20,000 Americans could experience “homicidal ideation” – that is, murderous thoughts – as a result of taking just this one antidepressant drug.

  • Columbine mass-killer Eric Harris was taking the widely prescribed antidepressant Luvox when he and fellow student Dylan Klebold went on a hellish school shooting rampage in 1999, killing 12 students and a teacher and wounding 24 others before turning their guns on themselves.

  • Luvox manufacturer Solvay Pharmaceuticals concedes that 4 percent of children and youth taking Luvox developed “mania” – a serious mental derangement characterized by extreme excitement and delusion – during short-term controlled clinical trials.

  • Authorities investigating Cho Seung-Hui, who murdered 32 at Virginia Tech in April, reportedly found “prescription drugs” for the treatment of psychological problems among his possessions. Joseph Aust, Cho’s roommate, told the Richmond Times-Dispatch Cho’s routine each morning had included taking prescription drugs.

  • So what kind of meds had Cho been taking? Strangely, his medical records have yet to be released to the public – authorities claiming it’s because an investigation is still ongoing, although critics suggest the purpose may be to protect the drug companies from liability claims.

Meanwhile, the list of killers who happened to be taking psychiatric medications is long and chilling. Remember these headline names?

  • Patrick Purdy’s 1989 schoolyard shooting rampage in Stockton, Calif., was the catalyst for the legislative frenzy to ban “semiautomatic assault weapons” in California and the nation. The 25-year-old Purdy, who murdered five children and wounded 30, had been on Amitriptyline, an antidepressant, as well as the antipsychotic drug Thorazine.

  • Kip Kinkel, 15, murdered his parents in 1998 and the next day went to his school, Thurston High in Springfield, Ore., and opened fire on his classmates, killing two and wounding 22 others. He had been prescribed both Prozac and Ritalin.

  • In 1988, 31-year-old Laurie Dann went on a shooting rampage in a second-grade classroom in Winnetka, Ill., killing one child and wounding six. She had been taking the antidepressant Anafranil as well as Lithium, long used to treat mania.

  • In Paducah, Ky., in late 1997, 14-year-old Michael Carneal, son of a prominent attorney, traveled to Heath High School and started shooting students in a prayer meeting taking place in the school’s lobby, killing three and leaving another paralyzed. Carneal reportedly was on Ritalin.

  • In 2005, 16-year-old Native American Jeff Weise, living on Minnesota’s Red Lake Indian Reservation, shot and killed nine people and wounded five others before killing himself. Weise had been taking Prozac.

  • In another famous case, 47-year-old Joseph T. Wesbecker, just a month after he began taking Prozac, shot 20 workers at Standard Gravure Corp. in Louisville, Ky., killing nine. Eli Lilly, which makes Prozac, later settled a lawsuit brought by survivors.

  • All very interesting, you may be thinking, but what do the drug companies say in their defense?

One of the most widely prescribed antidepressants today is Paxil, manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline.

Paxil’s known “adverse drug reactions” – according to the drug’s own 2001 FDA-approved label – include “mania,” “insomnia,” “anxiety,” “agitation,” “confusion,” “amnesia,” “depression,” “paranoid reaction,” “psychosis,” “hostility,” “delirium,” “hallucinations,” “abnormal thinking,” “depersonalization” and “lack of emotion,” among others.

With a rap sheet like that, no wonder pharmaceutical companies are nervous about liability lawsuits over the “rare adverse effects” of their medications. In 1998, for example, GlaxoSmithKline was ordered to pay $6.4 million to Donald Schnell’s surviving family members after the 60-year-old man, just two days after taking Paxil, murdered his wife, daughter and granddaughter in a fit of rage.

But reporting the truth about the relationship between psychiatric medications and mass murderers is just the beginning. “MANIA” also reveals clear and compelling evidence that psychiatric drugs hurt children physically – causing shrinkage of their brains, damage to their hearts and other significant effects.

Perhaps even more disconcerting, “MANIA” exposes the federal government’s bizarre preoccupation with screening all American school kids to see if they’re mentally ill – a process that often leads directly to a prescription for mood-altering drugs for the child who didn’t answer the questions properly.

“The problem,” said David Kupelian, managing editor of WND and Whistleblower, “is that many Americans don’t exactly trust the federal government to determine what constitutes ‘mental health.’” Incredibly, as this issue reveals, there is even a government effort to proclaim an infant-and-toddler mental health crisis!

With the numbers of people taking prescription psychiatric medications in the tens of millions and growing every day, this issue will touch virtually every reader in a profound way.

“I think this is one of the most important and frankly mind-boggling editions of Whistleblower we’ve ever produced,” said Kupelian. “The information in it could very well be life-changing – or even life-saving.”

Yahweh is the Creator of all. As such, He has perfect knowledge of the best way to get and maintain health.

    For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
    I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    Marvelous are Your works, . . .
My frame was not hidden from You,
    When I was made in secret, . . .
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
    (Psalm 139:13-16, NKJV)

The Creator of your body knows the best way by which to keep that body healthy. He has designed eight laws which, if followed properly, will aid in restoring and maintaining health:

    1) Nutrition
    2) Exercise
    3) Water
    4) Sunlight
    5) Temperance
    6) Fresh Air
    7) Rest
    8) An Attitude of Gratitude (which brings trust in divine power)

Those who honor Yahweh by keeping His law, including His laws of health, will in turn be honored by Yahweh with peace, health and, most importantly, victory in overcoming sin. Yahweh “saith . . . them that honour me I will honour.” (1 Samuel 2:30, KJV) Those who obey all the laws of Yahweh will find themselves blessed in unexpected ways. “The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.” (Proverbs 14:27, KJV)

It is Yahweh’s will for His people to live lives enriched by good health. This cannot be obtained by the poisonous drugs widely distributed by most modern medical practitioners. Prescription drugs do not heal. They simply control symptoms, frequently at the cost of bringing other harmful side effects. The best way to health is Heaven’s way. Yahweh has provided cures in nature for every malady. The Internet provides access to a wealth of information previously unavailable. If you have a particular health issue, research online natural remedies that will provide a cure.

Today, determine anew to keep all of Yahweh’s laws. He will give you grace, wisdom and victory in every area.

    Bible - Book of Revelation

Pharmakeia and its related word forms appear four times in the Book of Revelation as follows:

    Revelation 9:21

Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries (Pharmakeia), nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

    Revelation 18:23

And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries (Pharmakeia) were all nations deceived.

    Revelation 21:8

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers (pharmakon), and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

    Revelation 22:15

For without are dogs, and sorcerers (pharmakeus), and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

"If you want to make peace, you don't talk to your friends. You talk to your enemies." Mother Teresa

John 5:29 - And come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.
